Our Topic: In this dynamic session, bring pen, paper, and a reflective mindset so that you can learn how to teach journaling techniques that will give your organization a tool which orients human powered resources through various real-world challenges. Leave the session with tools that bring numerous positive benefits for yourself and your organization through written self-reflection, timeline orientation, and organizational development in trauma informed environments.

In this session participants will learn:

  • The value of writing in a journal with pen and pencil
  • How to personalize the journaling process
  • How to utilize journaling as an organization navigating challenges
  • How to fold in outside resources into personal and organizational journaling

OUR SPEAKER:

Scott Amick M.A.

Scott is a certified Community Resilience Model trainer and educator who has survived the Camp Fire in Paradise California, on November 8, 2019, and currently leads Social Emotional Wellness based field trips and professional retreats for his community through his position at Paradise Recreation and Park District and as Coordinator of the Healing Trauma Through Nature initiative .

  • Scott has spoken to and worked with hundreds of groups of various demographics over the past decade as a professional speaker and facilitator.
  • Scott sits on the Board of Directors for Everybody Healthy Body, Outdoor Education for All, The Ridge Hiking Association, and The Ridge Mountain Biking Association.
  • A Camp Fire Survivor, Scott speaks on behalf of The Ridge and Resilience while working as the Coordinator for the Healing Trauma Through Nature Grant funded by the North Valley Community Foundation, employed through Paradise Recreation and Parks District.
  • Representing Odyssey for Youth, Scott has supported and delivered programs across North America, for clients including Microsoft, Oracle, Chrysler, Comcast, TD Ameritrade, YouTube, University of the Pacific, Health and Family Solutions, and The Lawrence Academy.
  • He holds a Masters Degree in Applied Biomechanical Analysis from Cal State University, Chico, and has worked there as a course instructor and guest lecturer.
  • Scott survived backpacking in the wild desert canyons of Utah for 80 days straight as well as 20 days straight snow camping in quinzhees.
  • A serial entrepreneur, he has started, grown, and sold several successful health related businesses in Butte County including a personal fitness studio, an aquatic rehabilitation facility, a meal delivery service, and a functional neurology practice, none of which he currently owns or operates.
  • Married to his wife, Jenna, Scott lives in Paradise CA, where they are raising their 4-year-old child, Reese and their 18 month old child, Morgan. In his spare time Scott enjoys constructing and playing electric guitars, mountain biking, reading Tim Ferris books, and exercising.
