Ann Wicks has more than twenty years of experience advising companies of all sizes in matters involving employment and labor law. She works both locally in Butte County and with clients and firms in San Francisco and beyond, advising companies and individuals on a variety of workplace issues. She works extensively with the Mandell Law Group, selected by inc.com as one of the top 4 law firms in Silicon Valley in 2016, as selected by tech executives. She has also worked at top 100 law firms throughout her career, serving as special counsel at Cooley Godward in the Employment and Labor Practice Group in San Francisco and Palo Alto, California, and as a partner with Littler Mendelson in San Francisco, where she represented various local and national clients in employment litigation matters.
Ms. Wicks has extensive experience representing companies, senior executives and individuals in all aspects of employment law. An experienced trial attorney, she has represented clients in litigation in the areas of wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, whistleblower retaliation, wage and hour, workplace violence, contracts, Sarbanes-Oxley, WARN Act violations and trade secrets. She has also represented clients in arbitration and mediation proceedings, and before state and federal agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, the Department of Labor Standards and Enforcement, the Employment Development Department and the Department of Industrial Relations.
Ms. Wicks’ employment law practice includes pre-litigation counseling for clients in areas such as employee hiring, discipline and separations, staff reorganizations, reductions in force, disability and leave laws, consultant and independent contractor agreements, executive employment agreements, commission plans, employment practices and policies, employee training and trade secrets protection. She has worked with union and non-union employers, and has advised private employers in a broad array of industries, including airline, construction, health care, trucking, food, retail, manufacturing, agricultural, high technology, biotechnology, video game, software, venture capital, restaurant and hospitality industries.
Ms. Wicks graduated with honors from California State University, Chico with B.A. degrees in Political Science and Psychology, and received her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall. She is licensed to practice law in California and admitted to practice before all courts in California.
