Compensation Trends & Troubles – New (and Old) Challenges Facing Employers in 2021 and Beyond

As we enter our post pandemic recovery the ability to compensate talent faces some new and not so new challenges. The ability to identify and manage compensation issues associated with labor shortages, state labor laws, and the socio-dynamics impact of the pandemic have become more complex than ever.

In this 60 minute session we will discuss several new (and not so new trends) affecting total compensation and strategies for employers to compete in an ever changing work climate.

Learning Objectives

    • Review the basics of Compensation (Base Pay, Short & Long Term Incentives) and their use in business.
    • Identify trends affecting compensation such as:
        • California Mandated Minimum Wage Increases
        • Business Profitability and Merit Budgets
        • Post Pandemic Labor Scarcity
        • Remote Work
        • Wage Compression
    • Understand where to obtain good pay data (to make good pay decisions!)
    • Discuss practical solutions and strategies of how to combat these issues to attract and retain employees using financial and non-financial incentives
