During this session you will be introduced to the Run Hide Fight options in response to an active shooter event, as recommended by the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, the ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) principles will be discussed, with examples showing how a static lockdown is not the best course of action.

About the Speaker: Kurt Walling, CSRM, CPSI, MSEd
Kurt Walling is the Loss Prevention Manager for Shasta-Trinity Schools Insurance Group, a JPA in Northern California consisting of 41 school districts. Since retiring from the Army in 2013, he has singlehandedly developed the in-house loss prevention program for the JPA. Kurt is an OSHA authorized outreach instructor, Pro-ACT trainer, ALICE instructor, Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI), and is a Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM). He has an undergraduate degree in business, a Masters of Public Policy Administration, and a Masters of Science in Education. Kurt leverages his 26 years in the military as a paratrooper in the Infantry and Combat Engineers to develop training and safety programs that benefit the school employees.
